What is the difference between HubeX and myTax ?
HubeX is an independent platform whereas myTax is an ATO product. HubeX has a number of time saving features that make tax return preparation quick and easy. When using HubeX you invite a tax professional to assist you with the preparation and lodgment of your personal tax return. Users of myTax prepare and lodge their tax return independent of a tax agent.

What is the advantage of using HubeX ?

Right across this great country of ours. North, south, east, west. As a cloud service, our partner tax agents are located throughout Australia.

What role does HubeX play ?
HubeX is an intermediary that links you with expert tax agents dedicated to uncovering tax opportunities for you. We provide you with the technology you need to prepare your tax return as well as the compatible tax professional who can provide you with the practical insight for the best possible tax result.
What are the minimum Windows / iOs / Android requirements ?
Any Windows, iOS and Android device with a web browser and an internet connection

Is there a mobile app ?
We are working on a mobile app to make preparing your tax return easier and more flexible.
Are you running any promotions that I could send to my friends ?
We are currently working on a number of promotions that you could send to your friends and colleagues.

What are your Terms & Conditions ?
Can my accountant prepare my tax return using HubeX ? Can you please provide information on how they can and the fees they charge ?
Yes your current accountant can definitely prepare your personal income tax on the HubeX power platform. After subscribing you can send your accountant an invitation to use HubeX. They then need to accept the invitation and enter their details on HubeX to start providing you with services.
How can I find out the full details of the accountant who prepares my tax return ?
If you are using the default accountant option, you will receive the details of the accountant who is preparing your tax return after they accept your job. You will receive the accountant’s name and their verified TPB agent number.
Can I choose the accountant that prepares my tax return ?
Yes – Most certainly. You can either invite your current accountant into the platform or you can, to some extent, select a specific accountant under the default option.
If I don’t like the default accountant can I choose another one ? Is there a fee to change ?
If you decide to use the default option and the first accountant allocated to you does not meet your needs you can, free of charge, be allocated another accountant.
How can I contact the accountant who is preparing my tax return ? Will I be able to get their phone contact details ?
If you are using the default option in HubeX you will receive your accountant’s contact details after they have accepted your job. You will receive their phone number so you can talk to them while your tax return is being prepared.
How long will it take for my tax return to be prepared and lodged & what is the process ?
If your personal tax return is a standard return with wages, minor bank interest and some work related deductions our service standard is 1 hour.
For more complex returns that include investment income (rental and/or shares), capital gains or business income your return will take longer.
What documents do I sign as part of the process ?
When an accountant accepts your job you will complete an Appointment of Tax Agent form and an Engagement Letter. At the completion of your job you will also sign a Fee From Refund form and your Tax Return.
How do I provide my documents to the tax agent ?
All documents you provide to your accountant will be via the HubeX secure portal. You are required to scan and upload your documents to the portal. Your accountant will then access your documents for the preparation of your tax return.
Who is responsible for the accuracy and other compliance matters with my tax return ?
Both you and your accountant are responsible for the accuracy of your personal tax return as well as substantiation of the claims made in your tax return.
As we are only an intermediary we are not responsible for the accuracy of your tax return.
If, after my tax return is lodged, I discover a mistake how can I get the tax return amended ? Is there an additional fee to have my tax return amended ?
If you discover a mistake in your tax return after lodgement you can notify your accountant through HubeX that amendments are required and ask them to make the changes and submit again.

Tax Agents

What are the minimum qualification, experience and education requirements of your tax agents ?
We vet all HubeX tax agents with ATO - Tax Practitioner Board (TPB) for the validity of the tax licenses before they are approved for providing tax services on HubeX.
How do you screen your tax agents ?
Our vetting process involves both checking the validity of their TPB licences, trading ABN and or ATO verification of their software nomination.
Do any of your tax agents outsource their work ?
Absolutely not. Tax agent service partners have agreed not to outsource any work.
What happens to my documents after my tax return is lodged ? Will my documents be in HubeX when I return to do my tax return next year ?

    Is HubeX secure ? What security measures do you have in place to protect my data ?
    HubeX uses world class security tools to protect both taxpayers and tax agents data.
    What ID am I required to provide as part of registration ?
    As part of the registration process you are required to provide a 100 points ID of ID.
    What are your fees and how are they determined ? Are the fees fixed or will they change after the accountant has prepared the return ?
  • Our fees are based on market rates.
  • The standard fee is from $99 (incl GST) for a standard individual tax return.
  • For complex returns, HubeX will charge you based on what’s in your tax return.
  • Generally the fees are payable upfront and fixed. However HubeX may increase the original fee if the work involved in your tax return is substantially more than originally anticipated.

    Who owns the client ?
  • is dependent on the circumstance.
  • You own the client if your client has invited you into the HubeX platform to collaborate on their tax return.
  • HubeX owns the clients if you engaged with the client as the default tax agent.
  • Do HubeX or I send the client an Engagement Letter & Appointment of Tax Agent letter ?
    HubeX will automatically send an Engagement Letter and Appointment of Tax Agent Letter to the client after the tax agent has accepted the job.
    Who does the Admin work relating to the client ?
    HubeX will notify the client when their Notice of Assessment is in their MyGov Account.
    What happens if the client contacts me directly next year ?
    Please refer to our Terms of Services.
    Who do I get paid by ?
    HubeX will pay you the Partner Tax Service Fee which is the Client’s Fee less a HubeX Fee. This will be paid to you within 24hrs after providing the service.
    If there is more work involved in the tax return than initially estimated how can I bill the client more than they originally paid upfront ?
    When the actual fee is higher than the original amount please contact us so that we can charge the client the increase.
    Can our staff who are not Tax Agents prepare tax returns on our behalf ?
    Yes we would encourage that. However each staff member does need to be registered with us separately even though your firm is registered.
    Can I add a HubeX client to my email marketing list and send them marketing material ?
    If your client invited you into the HubeX platform then you can continue sending them marketing materials.
    If you were introduced first introduced to the client via HubeX then please do not send them marketing material.
    Can HubeX be integrated into my practice software or apps that I use ?
    Yes we would encourage that. However each staff member does need to be registered with us separately even though your firm is registered.
    Can our staff who are not Tax Agents prepare tax returns on our behalf ?
    At this stage HubeX is a standalone product that does not integrate with other practice apps. However we do anticipate integrating with other apps in the future.

    How can I use HubeX for my family?
    If you are in a relationship, your tax return asks you several questions about your spouse such as their taxable income, centrelink income etc. HubeX intuitively links you and your spouse so you can share your financial data and documents between yourselves and with your accountants to accelerate the preparation of your tax return (and vice versa for your spouse).
